You want to start from hotel in Leh in the morning and be back in the evening? You don't want to spend a night outside Leh city? This page will show you all the areas of Ladakh that can be covered during a 1-day tour from Leh.
First, you can explore the Sham region (western Ladakh). For this itinerary #1 in the Sham region, there are 3 different options that can be done in a single day, depending on how far you want to go. Option 1 goes up to Sangam and the total return distance is only 75 km. Option 2 includes major monasteries, it goes until Alchi and the total distance is 151 km. With option 3, you go all the way to Lamayuru village surrounded by "moonland" and you drive 251 km in one day. Note that the road is good in the Sham region so a day trip to Lamayuru can easily be done.
Then, with itinerary #2, you can visit the most famous monasteries of Ladakh (Hemis, Thiksey, Shey, etc.) in one day from Leh.
Finally, with itinerary #3, you can discover the mesmerizing Pangong lake during a 1-day tour. This is quite a long trip to the lake via Chang La pass (5,360m), so you need to start driving quite early in the morning (around 8:00 am).
Note that it is not possible to cover the Nubra valley or Tso Moriri lake in a day trip from Leh. You need at least 2 days for a tour to Nubra valley, with one night in Hunder or Diskit village. A tour to Tso Moriri lake also requires minimum 2 days with one night in Korzok at the bank of the lake.
