Under the careful stewardship of Mr. Iqbal for nearly 50 years, this well-known hotel is a gem. While the approach from within the city might be a bit confusing, heading straight to the Post-Office is the best route; from there, directional signage is available. The elevated terrace of this thirty-room hotel offers a diverse panorama, including barren mountain slopes, the Suru River, craggy mountains, terrace-slopes with habitation tin-sheds, trees, birds, and flowers. As this hotel is a favorite among travelers, it's usually bustling, with buffet meals on offer. The food is skillfully prepared. I highly recommend choosing this place; it's a fantastic option.

On our journey from Leh to Srinagar, my husband and I spent a night here. This happens to be the oldest hotel in Kargil. Our room had a fantastic view overlooking the entire city. The warm welcome we received upon arrival was gracious and unforgettable. The hot water shower, heated by solar power, was wonderfully hot. The room and bathroom were both clean and spacious. Dinner was excellent. Since we don't eat meat, they accommodated our request for less salt, less oil, and less hot spice. The next morning, as we had to leave early, our breakfast included fruit, yogurt, potato paratha, juice, and coffee. More importantly, it was ready at 5 am! We plan to return next year to this family-owned and operated hotel. Many thanks to Mr. Bhat.

We were en route to Srinagar, a group of 7 including children. Instead of pre-booking, we decided to reach Kargil and then find a place. Fortunately, a friend in Leh told us about this place, and we headed to the hotel. Initially, the exterior didn't impress any of us, but after talking to the owner and checking out the rooms, we sealed the deal (which turned out to be the cheapest of the trip). The view from the first-floor rooms and balcony was very pleasant and relaxing, especially overlooking the mountains, river, and Kargil city. The hotel is a bit away from the bustling city and at a higher elevation than other hotels, I guess. The most surprising part of our stay was the delicious, finger-licking vegetarian food for both dinner and breakfast. It was among the best we had on our trip—truly superb. Considering the cost and our requirements, the rooms, beds, and toilets were good and clean. No complaints whatsoever. The service was excellent, timely, and felt like home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
