Fana Resort is a wonderful place to relax. This family-run resort is located in Sakti village, on the way to Pangong lake, 48 kilometres from Leh and 7.9 kilometres from Chemrey monastery. Rooms are spacious and they all have a private balcony with great views on the garden and the mountains. The restaurant serves tasteful dishes made with fresh and organic vegetables grown in the resort’s garden.
The small Takthok Gompa is located 2.4 kilometres from Fana Resort and it is a pleasant walk through Sakti village to reach the gompa. Inside, there is a cave where Guru Padmasambhava (the founder of Tibetan Buddhism) meditated. Takthok Gompa is the only monastery in Ladakh that follows the Nyingma tradition.

Throughout our recent Ladakh trip, we experienced various hotels and homestays, all of which were excellent. However, without a doubt, the standout experience for my entire family was our one-night stay at Fana Resort. As we departed, I found myself wishing we had booked at least one more day. Everything about Fana Resort (the location, facilities, staff hospitality, and food) was outstanding. After the challenging journey from Pangong, the well-appointed rooms provided the perfect setting for rejuvenation. The property features a stream, and the soothing sound enhances the overall ambiance.
The food, both dinner and breakfast, surpassed expectations, especially considering the limited number of guests. Despite that, the staff went the extra mile to offer a small buffet with delicious items. Various thoughtful touches ensured our brief stay remained comfortable. A particularly memorable aspect was Spawo, the husky on the property. As dog-lovers, my family members thoroughly enjoyed playing with him and watching his antics. He even had a stray pup as his companion, adding to the charm. Prospective guests should check with the hotel in advance for meal availability, especially if arriving at an odd time (as we did). We had to travel about half an hour for lunch since the kitchen had closed by the time we checked in. On a positive note, the location is ideal for visiting Hemis Monastery and is not far from Thiksey, Shey Palace, and other tourist spots.

A wonderful place to stay. Outstanding services, a personal touch in everything offered, the serving of delightful honey ginger lemon tea, superb food, and each room surpasses the beauty of the other. The owner, a true gentleman, shares amazing stories of Ladakh and the Buddhist world. And at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. Undoubtedly one of the finest places to stay in Ladakh.

Our stay at Fana Resort was absolutely delightful. The atmosphere was incredibly serene and peaceful. The services offered were excellent, the food was fantastic, and they even had some thrilling sports activities to enjoy. The resort is situated near a charming stream, surrounded by beautiful greenery. Additionally, the presence of the cutest husky added to the charm. Another noteworthy aspect was their provision of natural filtered water instead of bottled water. Staying for more than a day would undoubtedly add to the enjoyment!
